Case Description
My six front teeth are so different from the rest of my teeth I really don't think they belong to me! When I close my mouth, those teeth protrude outwards almost diagonally. They are all very discolored, with wide spacing between all of the teeth you see when I smile. With my face in a resting (no expression) position, my front teeth rest on top of my bottom lip. I have to force my mouth close (meaning I have to remind myself to hold it close) and after holding it too long it makes my jaw hurt. I have high cheek bones which accentuates my horrible smile. I don't even take pictures anymore. Being the proud mother of two with another coming soon, I refuse to take family portraits because I don't want to smile. I am 24 years old and I am hoping to avoid braces or anything that would add to my embarassment. I work with the public so I do not want to give people more ways to ridicule me. I am already described as "the girl with the long hair and big teeth."

Are You This Patient?
When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

You most likely had some sort of habit growing up, probably tongue thrusting. Braces are your best option, however, you may consider invisalign that way no one need know that you are correcting your teeth. The quickest answer may be lumineers, but they are not inexpensive at around $1000 per tooth.Do not get discouraged, modern dentistry can work wonders, and your dentist can give you several options.
