Case Description
Hi! I have had several TMJ surgeries culminating in bilateral total joint replacements 2 years ago. Since I was fused shut it was impossible to get any dental work done. I need extensive work done due to teeth chipping/breaking when I was wired shut and the inability to practice proper dental hygiene. I am also quite scared due to the possibility of more TMJ pain with treatment. Are there any dentists in Atlanta who can do general anesthesia? How can I start this process?

Are You This Patient?
When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

I would be glad to review your situation and give you an exam, treatment plan and consult on that. The TMJ issues are large and I have dealt with them for 28 years in our practice. Check out the web site and the info on TMJ, neuromuscular, and reconstruction at the site. Having taught TMJ for many years to other dentists, I know what can be the severity of the problem. We use oral sedation here, not general. I only know of one dentist doing general, Dr. David Kurtzman. If we eveluate you and feel he would be best for you, we can refer you to him.A NPE is what is indicated at this time..new patient exam. We can move one step at a time and see what your needs and limitations are. Utmost is to keep your tmj as calm as possible.Sincerely, bill williams, dmd, magd, miccmo
